Neon Fashion Trends

 Neon Color Blocking

Juicy brights pack a bold punch!

Source: Neon Fashion

The trick to wearing neon is not wearing it all at once. It should be the pop of color to spruce up any outfit, in any season. Tyra Banks recently discussed how neon fashion can be incorporated into any season.

Not my person style but I would wear these pumps with a neutral outfit.

Don't be afraid of color.

Spring TREND ALERT:: Orange Lipstick

"Some of our favorite celebs, including Solange Knowles, have taken cue by smearing tangerine and apricot colors all over their lips. YUM! With the recent burst of spring weather, this is the perfect time to try a radiant color. Check out the gallery of perfect examples of orange lips, from pastel corals to intense neons." (BV)

The difference a belt can make...

AFTER
BEFORE
~~~~
I'm working on my NYE outfit and pulled out this Vintage dress that I thrifted a while back...I love how good it feels on but I felt frumpy because it just draped over me...I looked like a supersized square. So I decided to add this yellow belt and BAM, I have a smokin' hot outfit to wear tonight!!! Accessories and a pop of color always does the trick!!
------
I have been purging and getting rid of clutter for the past few months. I was on my way to being a hoarder....not like that woman from Oprah a few weeks back, more like an organized clutter. My garage was a mess!! WOW! So after having Salvation Army make 4 trips to my home to pick up all this junk I'm inspired to jazz up my crib (home)... Hubby and I juggled with the idea of buying a new home but we don't want to settle down for 10+ years in this state, we wanna relocate EAST... Stay tuned for that convo...
Anywhoooo...since we are gonna live in this house for another year or so we decided to redo everything while we are here. We are not balling so we are gonna do this on a budget. When we first got married I shopped in places like Pier 1, spending waaaay too much money. After perusing Target and Walmart I started "window shopping" for ideas. I'd snap a pic of color combos and text hubby and he would say YES or NO...so we agreed with the chocolate brown paired with bold colors like; green, turquoise, orange....its a perfect mix of the both of us! Right now grad school has consumed my world but I imagine we will have this job completed by Thanksgiving. It feels good to chunk all of that junk that was taking up space. All that clutter was messing with my mind, now I have clarity and can think! LOL! It's so true what they say about clutter effecting your peace of mind. As I was chunking stuff in the Donate, Sell, and Trash piles I felt liberated! I should have taken BEFORE pics! OMG!
Stay tuned yall!
ThE CoLoR PuRpLe....My favorite color!
Royalty and Spirituality:
Purple is royalty. A mysterious color, purple is associated with both nobility and spirituality. The opposites of hot red and cool blue combine to create this intriguing color.
Nature of Purple:
Purple has a special, almost sacred place in nature: lavender, orchid, lilac, and violet flowers are often delicate and considered precious. Because purple is derived from the mixing of a strong warm and strong cool color it has both warm and cool properties. A purple room can boost a child's imagination or an artist's creativity. Too much purple, like blue, could result in moodiness.
Culture of Purple:
The color of mourning for widows in Thailand, purple was the favorite color of Egypt's Cleopatra. It has been traditionally associated with royalty in many cultures. Purple robes were worn by royalty and people of authority or high rank. The Purple Heart is a U.S. Military decoration given to soldiers wounded in battle.
Using Purple:
Deep or bright purples suggest riches while lighter purples are more romantic and delicate. Use redder purples for a warmer color scheme or the bluer purples to cool down.
Using Purple with Other Colors:
A deep eggplant purple with neutral tans or beige is an earthy, conservative color combination with a touch of the mystery that purple provides. Green and purple can be a striking combination in deep or bright jewel tones or use lighter shades for a cheerful, springlike feel. Pink and purple has feminine appeal.
Purple Color Palettes:
These color palettes feature shades of purple combined with shades of green, orange, blue, and yellow.
Using Purple in Other Design Fields:
Feng Shui Use of the Color Purple
Language of Purple:
The use of purple in familiar phrases can help a designer see how their color of choice might be perceived by others, both the positive and negative aspects.
Purple Words: These words are synonymous with purple or represent various shades of the color purple.
Violet, plum, lavender, lilac, puce, thistle, orchid, mauve, magenta, royal, amethyst, wine, pomegranate, eggplant, mulberry.
Korto Momolu:: Season 5 Fan Favorite Designer from Project Runway
Korto Momolu, my favorite contestant ever to grace Bravo's, Project Runway. In my opinion she was robbed and came in 2nd place. I wasn't a judge but I'm sure many of you would agree she should have won. Born in Liberia, West Africa this curvy diva designs clothes rich in color and style. Inspired by the threads of her native land, she designs masterpieces that make anyone look like a goddess! She is finally getting the exposure she deserves as she has one creation after another burning up the runways!! Flowing fabrics and radiant colors, she isn't afraid to dip her models in perfectly crafted colorful threads. I love her!! You can purchase pieces from her jewelry line in Dillards.
Buy. Shop. Or Sew.
By
Kadidja Hinds
Name three things every woman should have in her closet.
Get a great bag, a great pair of shoes and a great accessory piece, like jewelry or a denim jacket. Just something you can wear with everything.
Ladies love to shop. Do you have simple tips to stay on budget?
Buy clothes that you can wear all season. I’m doing my collections now where you can wear them all year round. In this economy you can’t really afford to put your summer clothes away and get winter.
Buy layers so you can layer up in the winter time and take them off in the summer. By adding and taking off, mixing and matching, you’ll create different looks with the same pieces. Look for neutral colors or just hot colors that don’t follow any special trend, so that way you can wear your purchases longer. You’ll get your money’s worth.
What’s the best advice you can give to aspiring designers?
Find what you love. I make what I love. All my pieces I would wear. Make what you feel there is a need for. If just you follow what this person has and that person has, then you’re going to be just like them - the same thing with a different label. In Rip the Runway my stuff will standout because it’s not going to be like anybody else. My stuff is different. I just go out there and give me and I hope people can appreciate that.
