First Lady, Michelle Obama does the Dougie!!!

Recently, I blogged about the "Let's Move" movement here Let's Move .

Yesterday, the first lady paid a surprise visit to Alice Deal Middle School in Tenleytown for a dance party Tuesday afternoon. When she arrived, the students were already out on the field, prepping to perform a Beyoncé workout video as part of the first lady's nationwide "Let's Move" initiative.

More than 600 schools performed the Beyoncé workout simultaneously this afternoon. Only one school, of course, was lucky enough to have the first lady doing the Dougie on the sidelines.

Beyonce Teams Up With the First Lady to get Kids MOVING!

Physical activity is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. In combination with healthy eating, it can help prevent a range of chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and stroke, which are the three leading causes of death. Physical activity helps control weight, builds lean muscle, reduces fat, promotes strong bone, muscle and joint development, and decreases the risk of obesity. Children need 60 minutes of play with moderate to vigorous activity every day to grow up to a healthy weight.

"I am excited to be part of this effort that addresses a public health crisis. First Lady Michelle Obama deserves credit for tackling this issue directly, and I applaud the NAB Education Foundation for trying to make a positive difference in the lives of our schoolchildren," said Beyonce.

Middle School students all across the nation are scheduled to dance in unison on Tuesday, May 3, at 1:42 p.m. Eastern Time.

Let’s Move! aims to increase opportunities for kids to be physically active, both in and out of school and to create new opportunities for families to move together.

Active Families: Engage in physical activity each day : a total of 60 minutes for children, 30 minutes for adults.

Active Schools: A variety of opportunities are available for schools to add more physical activity into the school day, including additional physical education classes, before–and afterschool programs, recess, and opening school facilities for student and family recreation in the late afternoon and evening.

Active Communities: Mayors and community leaders can promote physical fitness by working to increase safe routes for kids to walk and ride to school; by revitalizing parks, playgrounds, and community centers; and by providing fun and affordable sports and fitness programs.

I just saw this video, (Why Don't You Love Me) by Beyonce again this weekend for the 100th time...its not a new video but its the first time I really noticed how many vintage pieces Beyonce wore. I love any and all things vintage and its groovy to see vintage on the tube. I posted this video before but I had to post it again because the threads are just that DOPE!

Jay Z & Beyonce know how to vacation...You can find these two traveling on the most plush, expensive yachts in the middle of the ocean sailing into the sunset. Beyonce looks fabulous and her husband JayZ is swagadocious as usual! I just love these two together!

She finally has a line for real curvy/plus size women! YAY! After looking at the selections for "us" I wasn't impressed. Everything looks cheap and skankish, not classy and fabulous like some of the upscale stuff she has for the smaller chics...I probably wouldn't wear this dress. Beyonce I'm still a fan, but I think they can do better for the big girls. I'm just sayin'...

The first of many random thoughts on this blog...

PRIVACY!! Its so necessary in my world. After browsing the blogs and fan sites I ran into these pictures of Beyonce. I'm sure the fame and fortune can be oh so wonderful at times, but on these particular days she appears to be so uncomfortable! I know it comes with territory but this would drive me absolutely nuts! I love the freedom to come and go as I please without somebody chasing me down the street with camera's!! Her gigantuous bank account makes up for the inconvience I'm sure!~ lol...I can sooo see the Beyonce haters rolling their eyes right now but I love Mrs. Carter and this is my blog so I can post what I want to! So there! Hmph! *sticks out tongue* lol!
